NPA's "ALL EYES ON CAASPP" will be the week of April 15-19, 2024
Juniors will be given options for testing dates and times within this week. THANK YOU CLASS OF 2025!
In true NPA fashion, the testing set up is INDIVIDUALIZED.
At NPA, no tests are timed and all test settings are considered small (no more than 18 students in the room). Students may select their day and their time. Students may select a full day, a half day, morning only, afternoon only, etc. We have some students testing virtually, we have some students testing in extra-extra small settings...(you get the idea). In 2023, NPA had 97% participation and we understand this is due to our honoring the "NPA" way of learning.
Good to Know:
CAASPP scores will be placed on the student transcripts beginning in the 2024/2025 school year.
Students meeting or exceeding standards will receive a pin at graduation in June 2025.
Scores will be reported on the district scholarship applications in the 2024/2025 school year.
Scores impact state recognition such as the CA State Seal of Biliteracy and the Golden State Seal Merit Diploma
The Smarter Balanced Tests are not timed. In general, however, here are the average time breakdowns.
English: 3 Hours
Math: 2.5 Hours
Science: 2 Hours
The NPA class of 2024 has given us much to be proud of with the dashboard measurement of "Green" for Language Arts! The graph is below this informational text with a link to the CA Dashboard. Math continues to be an area of improvement. Yes, it's just a test. Yes, it's just one day of measurement. But yes, we are proud of our students and we are proud of our school! The Smarter Balanced tests are in alignment with junior English Language Arts and Mathematics standards and the curriculum used at North Point Academy. The class of 2025 is prepared.
Thank you for supporting our juniors and the NPA school site with All Eyes on CAASPP.
Facts regarding state testing expectations of CA independent study public schools:
NPA juniors participating in testing are considered making satisfactory progress in the independent study school setting.
NPA juniors who do not participate in testing are considered not making satisfactory progress in the independent study setting. An intervention (tiered re-engagement) plan will be created for makeup testing.
NPA juniors who do not participate in testing are considered not making satisfactory progress in the independent study setting. An intervention (tiered re-engagement) plan will be created for makeup testing. If the intervention plan is not successful, the student will have an evaluation of placement meeting and may no longer participate in the voluntary independent school setting of NPA.
